We are a fully trained and licenced Certification Body for the Government-backed Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials PLUS certifications.
Our Cyber Essentials certification service is for small and medium-sized businesses that are serious about cyber security. You do not need any prior knowledge of cyber security to get certified – the certification process covers everything.
These certifications exist because there are increasingly complex and dangerous cyber threats out there. Most businesses have no or very little cyber security expertise, making these certifications essential to stay safe.
Creative Networks has helped hundreds of organisations become Cyber Essentials certified, and we can help you do the same.
The Cyber Essentials Scheme
The Cyber Essentials scheme is a Government-backed scheme that provides a recognised information security standard. Organisations that are certified can demonstrate a minimum standard of cyber safety and security.
The scheme was developed by the UK Government and National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). It has become prevalent among SMEs, and many organisations are now demanding the standard to do business together.
We recommend the Cyber Essentials scheme to all SMEs that need cyber security knowledge and security. The scheme is ideal for all businesses with IT infrastructure, especially those with IT-based services and products.
5 Key Cyber Essentials Controls
The Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials PLUS certifications have five controls:
Secure networks and configurations
Software and patches
The five cyber security controls help organisations improve their security defences and demonstrate a commitment to cyber security, by addressing the most common internet-based cyber-attacks, including phishing and hacking.
If your organisation lacks cyber security controls, Cyber Essentials certification is a great starting point. We can also combine it with training and support, so that your organisation has a higher standard of security across its IT assets.
How We Help
Our Cyber Security Essentials certification service is the simplest way to get certified to Government standards. Following our initial audit, we will perform a comprehensive audit that considers the five controls in the scheme.
Following this audit, we will provide a bespoke report identifying your vulnerabilities and the improvements required for certification.
We can build the cyber security measures required on your behalf, and we also provide training and ongoing support. Once we are satisfied with your cyber security, we will certify your business under the Cyber Security Essentials scheme.
We can also go further than Cyber Essentials. We can create advanced security controls that deal with rarer, more complex threats, such as DDoS attacks. We’ll recommend a range of new security measures following the audit.
Cyber Essentials – How It Works
The Cyber Essentials assessment consists of a questionnaire and an external vulnerability scan of your IT systems. The scan covers all relevant IT assets and is performed remotely by one of our CREST certified professionals.
The Cyber Essentials PLUS assessment involves an on-site assessment, and further vulnerability scans on-site. You can upgrade to Cyber Essentials PLUS up to 3 months from the basic assessment.
Your organisation needs to re-certify annually to retain its certification status. We provide re-certification services with scheduled appointments available.
Once you are certified, you can proudly showcase the Cyber Essentials badge on your website and in print. The Cyber Essentials badge is recognisable, helping to improve your reputation and legitimise your security controls.
Is This Certification Right For You?
The Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials PLUS certifications cover the most common forms of internet-based cyber-attacks, including malware, phishing and hacking. However, not all organisations need certification.
You only need the certification if you have IT assets that are vulnerable to attack. If your business runs and operates IT infrastructure, certification is essential.
If your business collects, stores and uses personal data or manages computerised systems, you should also get certified to protect your IT assets.
Most organisations that take the certification do so to bolster their security protection and avoid costly cyber-attacks. Due to the increasingly digital world we live in, we recommend Cyber Essentials certification to most businesses.
What Are The Advantages Of Certification?
Certification with Cyber Essentials is proof your IT is secure. In a world full of threats, customers will be reassured by your security.
Many organisations require security controls before doing business together. Certification with Cyber Essentials will satisfy these organisations.
Certification with Cyber Essentials covers the most common cyber threats, helping avoid breaches from hacking and malware.
Cyber Essentials certification will help you stay compliant with the UK GDPR by introducing security controls for storing, processing, and controlling data.
Cyber security is alien to most organisations. Cyber Essentials certification will lift the lid on statistics, threats, and the different types of security control.
Start Taking Cyber Security Seriously
A study by Carbon Black in 2019 found that up to 88% of UK companies suffer a cyber security breach each year. Another study by Hiscox found that one small business in the UK gets hacked every 19 seconds.
Don’t become a statistic. With the right security controls, you can avert most cyber-attacks and avoid costly breaches, and Cyber Essentials certification is a great starting point. Reach out to us today for a chat about your cyber security requirements.
